TAM47524 1/10 RC Porsche 934 (1976) 50th Anniversary LIMITED EDITION
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Tamiya’s first R/C model Porsche 934, this incredibly special limited-edition kit recreates the iconic Porsche 934 with a bespoke chassis featuring the motor positioned lengthwise at rear-center which powers the rear wheels just like the actual car. For collectors and shelf queen connoisseurs, magnetized body mounts (needing no body holes) are included for those who want to just display the R/C car as a model! A unique numbered plate is included to make each individual kit special.
The motor is mounted centrally and lengthwise, creating a chassis layout that closely mirrors that of the real car. Power is transmitted through a realistic drivetrain configuration: pinion gear A drives a spur gear, which transfers power through a propeller shaft to pinion gear B, then to another spur gear, and finally to a gear differential. Newly designed 66T spur gears are used throughout, with all gears featuring a 0.4 module. The gear differential is the same proven unit used on the TB-05 chassis. Gear ratio tuning is easily accomplished by changing pinion gears A and B, and aluminum components are used around the gearbox to enhance rigidity and durability.
At the rear, the suspension employs trailing arms just like the full-scale vehicle. These trailing arms are molded from carbon fiber reinforced plastic, delivering excellent stiffness and precise suspension control. The lower deck, which integrates both the main and rear frames, is molded from glass fiber reinforced plastic to provide a strong yet lightweight foundation for the chassis.
The kit-standard wheelbase is 230 mm, optimized for the trailing arm rear suspension. For additional versatility, the rear layout of the lower deck can be modified to support a 251 mm wheelbase using a double wishbone rear suspension; a separately sold body is required for this configuration. Builders can also choose between traditional body mounting with holes for a durable driving model, or a magnet-and-metal mounting system for a clean, display-oriented appearance.
Numerous design details are directly inspired by the actual car. The motor guard features a muffler-style shape, the underside of the chassis incorporates scale-inspired patterns, and the stay mount design echoes the look of an intercooler. Optional cooling fans (sold separately) can be mounted above the motor, replicating the cooling fan duct arrangement found on the real vehicle for an added touch of realism.
