Regulator servo mount kit, (B.A.S.) 1 set

The Regulator servo mount kit is a great way to improve the performance of the Tamiya Clod Buster. JConcepts has made one of the best upgrades available and with precision machined aluminum, quality fiberglass, steel hardware, and bearings, the behind axle steering is built for the competitor and basher alike. In competition, the racing team was experiencing some trouble with conventional steering setups on the Clod Buster during crashes and side-by-side racing and a new idea was born.

Utilizing experience, Jason Ruona and Fred Reep developed a prototype assembly to place the servo behind the axle in an upright position. By moving the assembly behind, the components were now much more protected from crashes and collisions. The team reversed the steering blocks and connected them with a bearing supported fiberglass steering rack with aluminum top-hat bushing and steel hardware.

The servo attaches to machined 2-piece mounts which assemble with included 3mm hardware and lock the servo placement into the new position. The top piece rests on the stock Clod Buster axle stay and after bolting the L-shaped legs to the bottom, create the ultimate servo mount. To clamp the assembly to the axle, a 1-piece fastener slides underneath the axle stay and secures with 3mm hardware.

Also included, genuine Team Associated ball-cups and ball-studs to connect the rack to the servo horn to give durability and highly directive steering response. It is recommended to use an aluminum and clamping 18mm long servo horn on a high-quality, metal gear servo with a high torque rating to connect servo to the steering rack assembly. A high-quality fiberglass rear steering lock-out and mounting hardware is included to align the rear-end of the truck and eliminate rear steering for tracks and courses not requiring a super tight turning radius.

Driving with front steering only allows more control in a straight line and locking the rear-end makes for a consistent racing truck throughout bracket competition. For the best performance, always Regulate your steering assembly with JConcepts.

Notes from the team –
To increase steering radius, plastic material can be removed from the Clod Buster steering blocks and ladder bars to achieve more steering throw. To see assembly instructions, video or how-to tips and tricks, please visit JConcepts Inc. on YouTube.
